HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CLEAN MY GUTTERS?
We recommend having your gutters cleaned at least twice each year; once in March or April and again in October or November.
WHY GUTTER CLEANING IS ESSENTIAL
Gutters and downspouts are designed to collect rainwater from the roof and direct it away from the foundation of the home. It’s important to keep all gutters and downspouts clear of debris to avoid costly damage.
When debris such as leaves and twigs clog gutters or downspouts, rainwater can’t properly drain. As the rainwater sits idle for any period of time, it often becomes quite odorous and can attract mosquitos.
The rainwater will eventually spill over the side, damaging fascia boards or soffits and staining the gutters – often referred to as tiger striping. Because the rainwater falls straight down and not away from the home, it could enter the basement or crawl-space and cause foundation issues or even unhealthy mold growth.
